T D T - Our Story

cbHanson CMV LLC

TDT

Our story began long ago...

TDT is a division of cbHansonCMV LLC.  We are a subsidiary of cbHansonCMV LLC and as such operate within the same corporate structure.  Founded in 2021 after several years of working in private industry, public service, and the agricultural industry, our owner Chris Hanson realized something was missing in the area he grew up in.  A stable and reliable company that could provide training for those individuals who wanted to become truck drivers.

As it would happen, fortune favored the bold and the Federal Motor Carriers Safety Administration (FMSCA), a division of the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) had just finally settled on creating a professional development structure for "Entry Level Driver Training" or ELDT in late 2021.  Chris had timed the launch of his company just right.

TDT received its license to operate as a Commercial Driving School in March of 2023.  This means that we can teach ELDT students and CDL students!

Over the last several decades trucking companies, drivers and others realized that there was a need to be referred to as "professionals" and as such set out on a journey to redefine the trucking and transportation industry.  No longer is a truck driver just a truck driver.  Most are small business owners, some work in cooperative groups, others are employees of small, mid, and large businesses that are owned locally and internationally.  The skill set for truck drivers and transportation professionals has become so wide-ranging it can be difficult to describe.

Truck drivers have to operate their vehicles, often they troubleshoot minor issues with their vehicles, trailers, and loads.  They need to understand road signs, traffic warning devices, road maps, GPS, and other in-cab technology, all while being some of the largest vehicles on the road today.  Truck drivers must anticipate the moves of other drivers, ensuring the safety of their lives and the countless lives around them.  Some drivers may carry mundane or empty trailers deadheading from one point to another.  Other drivers are hauling perishable foods and consumables that have limited shelf life.  There are even drivers that carry materials so hazardous to the environment that even the smallest leak or spill can make an area uninhabitable for days, months, and sometimes even years.

Driving a vehicle is a profession.  TDT is proud to be able to offer classes to ensure this exciting career can "professionalize" itself and those who call it a job or career.
